THE MAJORITY OF CRIME IS DRUG RELATED
Murders, robberies, gang activity, gun violence, larcenies
This is an undisputed, but often not realized or mentioned fact. Our programs educate citizens, and law enforcement, to rethink how to address these issues. By realizing the majority of all crime is drug-related, and the drug trade operates the same as any business, in that a drug dealer (seller) has to sell his product to a drug user (buyer). Once this is realized, we can rethink our law enforcement approach and implement police activities to interrupt or stop the seller from connecting with the buyer. When the drug dealers can’t connect with their buyers to facilitate a drug sale, they leave the area or relocate, and all the horrific drug-related crimes move with them to the new location.
The Adopt-A-COP programs utilize several law enforcement technologies, programs, and proven strategies to complement our local authorities in this endeavor. An aggressive drug enforcement program is the key to reducing the majority of crime in any geographic area. When utilizing our law enforcement technologies, such as CCTV cameras in an area where street drug dealing is being done, history has shown that once cameras are installed the suspects simply move to another location to continue their criminal enterprise. It’s imperative, as the drug dealing or crime shifts, the police must move their police technologies as well.
There is no better example of this fact than what currently is, and has been, occurring in several cities across America. The majority of all of shootings, felonious assaults, weapons offenses, and thefts in these cities are drug related. Most large cities in the U.S don’t have a crime problem, they have a drug problem. Similar to what every major inner city around the world is facing.
